On December 14, Apple will launch its subscription fitness plan, which is designed primarily to complement the Apple Watch. At Apple's iPhone event in September, Apple Fitness+ was first revealed, and will deliver supervised workouts on iPhone iPad and Apple TV with live personal stats generated by the tracking of health metrics from Apple Watch.
At launch, the exercise offering will cover 10 styles of exercises, including High Intensity Resistance Training (HIIT), strength, yoga, dance, heart, swimming, indoor walking and running, and rowing and cooldown. All cases are led by individual trainers chosen by Apple to film the immersive sessions, and according to the firm, they are soundtracked by "today's top artists."

Much of the interactive features are fed by Apple Watch stats and show heart rate indicators, countdown timers and "celebration" graphics that are shown on the screen while a user fills their Apple Watch Activity rings with target accomplishment. This is a degree of close connectivity that is equivalent to what Peloton does for its service, but without needing the operation of a fully connected stationary bike or treadmill.
Other defining features of the programme include a recommendation engine that leverages information to recommend new activities, coaches and exercise habits, including past Fitness+ courses completed by a customer, as well as their Apple Watch Workout App details and other Apple Wellness integration information for third-party health and fitness applications. The use of third-party integrations by Apple is especially interesting here as it uses its network advantage to inform the personalization of its operation.

Apple is also dedicated, with differing strength and difficulty ranges, to weekly releases of new material in all types of workouts. Anyone that uses Fitness+ will also share their workouts with friends and family and, if they like, compete directly with those in the app.
There is also an optional integration with Apple Music, which enables users to upload favourite tracks and playlists directly from workouts to their catalogue, but users may not need Apple Music to view the music used for training videos, which are separated into multiple selectable types or genres.
Apple Fitness+ is available from December 14, and when paid over a 12-month period up front, can sell for $9.99 per month, or $79.99. Alongside other offerings, it's all part of Apple's latest Apple One Premier package package.
