Instagram announces two new updates to help fight COVID-19 misinformation: consumers will see a connection at the top of their feed to their local health department in areas of emerging cases, and those asking for vaccination information will now be led to reputable sources of health.

Facebook, the parent company of Instagram (for now has carried out its own misinformation-fighting feature, sending alerts to users if they have engaged with articles involving it. YouTube also been inserting cards below the pandemic posts, connecting the same organisations that Instagram uses as examples to sources such as the CDC and WHO. More recently, Twitter has also announced that it would delete rumours about the COVID-19 vaccine.
