The Snapdragon 888 5G mobile network for flagship phones coming next year was just unveiled by Qualcomm. And just as last year, Xiaomi announced today that one of the premium flagship series to be powered by this chipset will be its Mi 11 series.

A sequel to the Mi 10 and Mi 10T models, both operated by the Snapdragon 865 chipset, will be the Mi 11 series. The top-of-the-line Snapdragon chipsets are now also powering not only Xiaomi's Mi flagships, but Redmi's premium products (such as Redmi K30 Pro).

I'm happy that one of the first Snapdragon 888 smartphones will be our new flagship Mi 11 smartphone. This is another cutting-edge offering from us that will be filled with different hardcore innovations,' said Xiaomi's Chief, Chairman and CEO, Lei Jun.

Along with Lenovo, LG, Motorola, Realme, OnePlus, and others, Xiaomi is one of the several strategic OEM partners for Qualcomm. During the show, no other specifics were doled out for the forthcoming Mi 11 season. But, due to some new leaks, we do know a few things.

What can we expect from the Mi 11 series that you are talking about? You will see special camera and gaming innovations as it will be powered by the recent Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. Along with MEMC, SDR-to-HDR tone mapping, and AI upscaling support, it could feature a QHD+ monitor. It would also be important to see if Xiaomi will outfit the Snapdragon 888 chipset with its long-rumored foldable phone (that could arrive with the Mi Mix brand).

Xiaomi will unveil the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro next month, i.e. in early January, as far as reports go. That's a whole month early for the company's signature lineup than the normal February production schedule. If and when they pour in, we will share more information about the Mi 11 roster. So, for more info, stay tuned.
