In 2021, PAX still plans to host its in-person game festivals - Tech Backbone

On Friday, the organisers of the PAX game festivals, ReedPop and Penny Arcade, announced that they intend to resume PAX East, West, and Unplugged in 2021. As long as it's safe to do so, promoters continue to hold these activities.

The organisers announced that they have no plans to host PAX South next year but the show will return in 2022, although in the coming weeks" updates on PAX Australia will follow. Locations remain unchanged as well as the other PAX conventions go but the dates for PAX East, usually held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in March, have been postponed back to the summer.

The gaming conferences are expected to return from 3-6 June to PAX East in Boston with the help of local governments and health authorities and "pending improvement in the global COVID-19 situation." PAX West is also going to return, with the four-day festival running from 3 to 6 September. PAX Unplugged will run from 10-12 December. Next year, more information can be shared on all three cases.

The new in-person meeting with PAX East was held in February. Organizers increased their hygiene and sanitation activities during the event after COVID-19 safety issues. But after planning to host PAX West over Labour Day weekend in Seattle, organisers cancelled the in-person gathering and moved to an online-only conference for nine days.
