Xiaomi has announced its plans in India to launch the Mi QLED 4K Telev. On 16 December at 12 PM, the Chinese tech giant will hold a 'Quantum Leaps Forward' event to unveil the country's TV.

Mi QLED 4K TV: Specific Information

A few main TV specs have already been confirmed by Xiaomi. The Mi QLED 4K TV will come with a 4K QLED panel, as the name implies. In terms of graphics, it will support Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The TV will boast support for Dolby Audio and DTS-HD as far as audio is concerned.

The TV will deliver PatchWall UI in terms of applications, as you would expect from a Mi TV. You get a number of useful features with the PatchWall UI, including Universal Search, Kids mode, smart tips, and live channels. In a recent Patchwall update that contains the latest user centre and immersive carousel, we might expect the TV to have all the enhancements Xiaomi included.

Mi Fast Wake is also supported by QLED TV, which helps you to wake up your TV in 5 seconds. Support for HDMI 2.1, Improved Audio Return Channel (eARC), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Aomedia Video 1 (AV1) codecs are other confirmed features.

A Rebranded Mi TV 5 may not be Mi QLED 4K TV

Although this upcoming Mi QLED 4K TV will inevitably be believed to be a rebranded version of the Mi TV 5 / Pro launched last November in China, Xiaomi begs to differ. The company explained in an interview with Financial Express that it would not necessarily rebrand the Mi TV 5 series.

"Nine months ago, we should have launched a QLED TV. "Taking something that is available in China and launching it here is something we don't want to do because we want to spend that extra time and energy to ensure that we can do full justice to the technology, so it works to its full potential," Eshwar Nilakantan, the smart TV chief of Xiaomi India, told Financial Express.

Xiaomi has also reported that India will produce the Mi QLED 4K Telev. As Xiaomi releases the QLED TV next week we will hear the full specs, pricing and availability, so stay tuned for updates.
