Reliance Jio, India's largest telecoms provider, today revealed that it is going to pioneer the country's 5G revolution. In his inaugural speech at the India Mobile Congress, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and CEO of Reliance Industries, announced that Jio's 5G network will be launched in India in the second half of 2021.
The business already runs a 4G-only network and first shared its plans to debut a 5G network earlier this year at the AGM of Reliance. Currently, Reliance Jio has almost 41 crore users, all due to their affordable prepaid and postpaid services.
Next Year's Jio 5G Network Launch
Ambani unveiled his four proposals that will assist India in its digital transition during his keynote address. He claims India is one of the strongest nations with digital connections and the next move is 5G access. However the nation has been delaying the sale of the 5G spectrum. Ambani said that to speed the development and implementation of 5G connectivity across India, the government needs to bring big policies into effect.
In his speech, Ambani said, "I can say with the utmost confidence that 5G will allow India not only to participate in the fourth industrial revolution, but also to lead it." The Indian billionaire's three other ideas speak about linking more than 300 million underprivileged people across India, the role of Jio Network in technical advances, and the expectation that India could serve as a major semiconductor manufacturing hub in the future (via News18).
Mukesh Ambani observed that Jio's 5G services provided in the coming years will be "testimony" to the Amtanirbhar Bharat initiative by the government. We have already seen a range of applications and utilities, including rival TikTok Chingari, rival PUBG Mobile FAU-G, and many others. As the organisation will use indigenous-developed network, hardware, and infrastructure elements, the Jio 5G network will set a standard for homegrown upstarts.
Jio 5G Network Fully-Indigenous
Jio and Qualcomm, who have invested more than Rs. 730 crores in the company, have collaborated to develop the country's fully indigenous 5G Radio Access Network (RAN). It was first seen back in October at Qualcomm's 5G Summit and early testing saw the Jio 5G network hit speeds of over 1 Gbps.
Reliance Jio and Google are both partnering together to create an inexpensive 4G handset for the Indian masses in addition to its 5G network. It was originally said that this year would arrive in December. But with the price tag being about Rs. 4,000, the gossip mill now indicates an early 2021 launch.
